These Regulations introduce a new statutory entitlement for bereaved parents who are employees to take up to two weeks’ leave from their job called parental bereavement leave in the 56 weeks following the death of a child. These Regulations are made in exercise of the powers inserted into the Employment Rights Act 1996 (c. 18) (the “1996 Actâ€) by the Parental Bereavement (Leave and Pay Act) 2018 (c. 24).
These Regulations exercise powers inserted into the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992 (c. 4) (the “1992 Actâ€) by the Parental Bereavement (Leave and Pay) Act 2018 (c. 24), which provided for a new entitlement for bereaved parents who are employed earners to receive a statutory payment from their employers called statutory parental bereavement pay.
These Regulations are for the implementation of Council Directive (EU) 2017/1852 of 10 October 2017 on tax dispute resolution mechanisms in the European Union (“the Directiveâ€). The purpose of the Directive is to ensure the effective resolution of disputes, which affect particular taxpayers in the European Union, concerning the interpretation and application of double taxation treaties between member States.
This instrument amends the following Regulations (“the Student Finance Regulationsâ€)—the Education (Fees and Awards) (England) Regulations 2007 (S.I. 2007/779) (“the Fees and Awards Regulationsâ€);the Education (Student Support) (European University Institute) Regulations 2010 (S.I. 2010/447) (“the European University Institute Regulationsâ€);the Education (Student Support) Regulations 2011 (S.I. 2011/1986) (“the Student Support Regulationsâ€);the Further Education Loans Regulations 2012 (S.I. 2012/1818);the Education (Postgraduate Master’s Degree Loans) Regulations 2016 (S.I. 2016/606) (“the Master’s Regulationsâ€);the Higher Education (Fee Limit Condition) (England) Regulations 2017 (S.I. 2017/1189) (“the Fee Limit Condition Regulationsâ€);the Education (Postgraduate Doctoral Degree Loans and the Education (Student Loans) (Repayment) (Amendment) (No. 2) etc.) Regulations 2018 (S.I. 2018/599) (“the Doctoral Regulationsâ€).
This instrument revokes and replaces the Education (Student Fees, Awards and Support etc.) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 due to a defect in that instrument and amends the following Regulations (“the Student Finance Regulationsâ€)—the Education (Fees and Awards) (England) Regulations 2007 (S.I.
