The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) will be launching a selection exercise in January to recruit Fee-paid Judges of the First-tier Tribunal.
The seminarsThe Judicial Office is organising two pre-application seminars that will take place online via Microsoft Teams in January focused on the Social Entitlement Chamber and the Health, Education and Social Care Chamber.
These seminars aim to help applicants be better prepared to make an application, and to provide up-to-date guidance and advice on the JAC’s selection process. As well as the JAC, you will hear from senior judiciary, leadership judges and current salaried tribunal judges.
Wednesday 7 January 2026, 5pm to 6pm – Social Entitlement Chamber. Please register to attend.
Thursday 8 January 2026, 5pm to 6pm – Health, Education and Social Care Chamber. Please register to attend.
Who should attendApplications are invited from solicitors qualified in England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, barristers in England and Wales or Northern Ireland, advocates in Scotland, and Fellows of the Chartered institute of Legal Executives.
Candidates must have five years’ post-qualification legal experience and are expected to have at least 30 sitting days as a judge or in a quasi-judicial capacity.
